    I’m eating up these iPad video presentations. There’s nothing better than unintentional satire. Irony ftw. haha

    Yeah, it’s going to change the way people watch movies. Really? By ‘change’, do you mean make it worse? The iPad is overpriced unoriginality. These will be in the bargain bins along with the Apple TV in no time.

    Show me somebody who thought they were going to get MORE than a 10″ iPodtouch for LESS than $500, and I’ll show you somebody that does not know squat about technology

    It requires FAR more than a “little” fiddling, to remain fair here. At ANY time an update could come along, that renders a VITAL function of your Netbook useless. At that point you would be powerless to DO anything about it.

    “Hackintosh” is NOT for the faint at heart.

    @g4macdad
    Mac OS can run on pretty basic hardware.
    System requirements are any “intel mac” and 1GB of RAM. Since “any intel mac” includes such old machines as the 2006 Mac Mini with an Intel Core Solo @ 1.5ghz, Mac OS will run on most netbooks out there.

    And if you don’t want hackintosh (It might be illegal and requires some fiddling), Ubuntu or Windows 7 are decent alternatives.

    Ubuntu actually supports ARM processors so it might work on the iPad. If it does I might actually buy the iPad.

    I HATE cellphones. Apple makes a TON of money off of the iPhone. Why would THAT bother ME?

    I will never buy one, but if the world is full of morons who do, GOOD.

    The way you people LOVE negativity is Creepy and disgusting, to say the LEAST.

    I will NEVER have a Netbook. I think I am DONE with laptops period, after this.

    They are OVER priced and LESS powerful than a desktop. I will save my money for a BETTER desktop and buy THIS for ALL my of mobile needs.

    IF you want Mac OS on a Netbook it’s gonna cost WAY more than this.

    @maciindrew
    did u read my post? it HAS a touchscreen
    And apple hasn’t even announced how much RAM the iPad has. (definetly NOT 16gb. that’s just the SSD for storage)

    The advantage of a netbook is, that it has a physical full sized keyboard that allows fast typing, a real OS (Linux, Windows or Mac OS if you “hackintosh”) which allows multitasking (iPhone OS 4 might to, nobody knows) AND which has a lot more compatible applications.

    The iPad is just for entertainment. a netbook can do work too.

    yes, and new ways to laugh at the apple haters that have no clue where computing is heading… i still remember the same people bitter about the introduction of the mouse… this is no different.

    yes, but it weighs four times as much, has a poor quality screen, has no touchscreen, no touch based OS, so the useful battery life will be less than half the ipad, no 3G, 16 times less ram, no accelerometer or compass, no built in ipod, no ibook store, no access to touch apps, poor resell value, poor build quality and stil has a physical keyboard… on and on…

    so sure, if you aren’t good with money, the heavy ideapad is for you.

    @maciindrew

    A Lenovo Ideapad S10-3t costs $549, has a 10.1″ multitouch display that can be rotated 180° so that it works like a tablet.
    It also has a full sized physical keyboard and an Intel Atom processor which means that u can have a REAL OS and not just an OS designed for a mobile phone.

    If you want a tablet to surf the net, read ebooks and play a few games, then the iPad is great but it’s useless if you want to use it like a netbook, i.e. do real work.

    Steve Jobs, I feel for you. It seems you haven’t used a normal computer for a while, just your iPhone, so you actually think this is a remarkable browsing experience. Remember that mouse pointers CHANGE the picture when you hover over an item.. this is not offered by touchscreens, huh? So it’s not exactly “more interactive” yet, is it?

    Maciindrew, I’m disappointed in Steve Jobs (you) and the iPad to be honest. The iPhone/iPod touch was all about portability. For real productivity you need fine screen pointing (trackball/mouse/stylus), a fixable screen angle and a “feelable” qwerty (for easier typing). The iPad satisfies NONE of these requirements so is neither portable nor suitable for real productivity. It is entirely useless. You (Steve Jobs) are clutching at straws. Admit you made a costly mistake and make a good product.

    yes, it runs about 22,000 games.

  25. maciindrew 23 March 2010 at 3:07 am Permalink

    nonsense, very few laptops have a touchscreen option, plus none have a touch based OS, so what good is it?

    no, the iPad is the most feature rich tablet you can buy for the price. It’s $499 don’t forget… a laptop with that many features is well over $1000.
